Pay transparency: check before you post
- Colorado: the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires pay ranges and benefits information in postings for jobs that can be done in Colorado.
- California: SB 1162 requires a pay scale in postings for employers with 15 or more employees.
- New York: state law and New York City Local Law 32 require a good-faith pay range in covered postings.
- Washington: employers with 15 or more employees must state wage scale or salary range and benefits.
- European Union: Directive (EU) 2023/970 gives applicants the right to the initial pay or range before interview. Member states were due to transpose it by 7 June 2026; national rules differ.
Summary, not legal advice. Thresholds and wording differ by jurisdiction and change; confirm with counsel. Our generated range is a market median, not your internal pay band.

How the numbers are built
The pay range is the model median for the role, level and country, from -10% to +15%, rounded to a clean number, in local currency. Contract and Flex roles show an hourly rate based on 1,800 working hours a year.
Duties and skills come from the role definition. You should still edit the text for your team, product and benefits, and have counsel check pay-transparency compliance for each location.
Job Description Generator FAQ
Do I have to publish a pay range?
In many places yes. Colorado, California, New York and Washington require ranges in job postings for covered employers, and EU member states are implementing Directive (EU) 2023/970, which gives candidates the right to pay information before interview. Rules differ by employer size and location, so check with counsel.
Where does the pay range come from?
From our salary model: US base pay by role and level scaled by a country pay index, calibrated against posted pay ranges on public employer job boards.
Can I use the output as is?
Yes as a base. Add your company description, benefits, hiring process and any location-specific legal wording.
Does the generator store my inputs?
No. It runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
